The Goa State Pollution Control Board is an autonomous statutory organization constituted on 1st July, 1988 under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. Prior to that, when Goa formed part of the erstwhile Union Territory of Goa, Daman and Diu, the Central Board for the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution was performing the functions of the State Board in Goa.
CEE has been working in the state of Goa since 2001. The state office at Goa is an effort to initiate long-term Environmental Education programmes and activities that are responsible to local needs, intensive in focus and extensive in reach.
Besides extending core programmes of the Centre to Goa, CEE Goa is developing a variety of new projects and initiatives in the region. Specific content areas include programmes related to school’s developing locale-specific material, interpretation, capacity building and networking.
Green Polymers are a waste management company that aims to upcycle -hard to recycle materials, or materials that can’t be recycled to useful products- and have started community projects in Chorao and Divar where they clean the islands with a group of volunteers
The Goa Foundation is the most well known of Goa’s environmental action groups. Founded in 1986 by a group of Goan environmentalists each flighting his or her own individual environmental battles, the organisation today commands the respect of judiciary, government and the general public for persisting with its environment agenda for more than three decades.
The work of the Foundation spans different areas and fields, all related in some way or another with the conservation of Goa’s natural environment.
