Mangrove forests are essential especially for a country like India, with over 7500 kilometres of coastline. These forests store more carbon dioxide than most terrestrial forests and protect coastal regions from floods, hurricanes and tsunamis.

If you live in a coastal area that has experienced flooding during this monsoon season, it could be as a direct impact of mangrove destruction.
