State Gears Up to Junk Single Use Plastic

The Goa State government has drafted the Goa Non-Biodegradable Garbage Control Act to ban the complete manufacture, supply, storage and use of single-use plastics and levy heavy fines for littering in public spaces. The Act is expected to be notified and adopted by September 2019. In the past, the State Government had already banned the use of plastic below 50 microns. However, this ban has not been very effective.
