Six Villages, 3 Cities Notified for Implementing Waste Management

As per the earlier mentioned directive of the National Green Tribunal, on April  24th, 2019, the Goa State Government identified 6 village Panchayats and 3 cities as model villages/cities for the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016. The villages that were identified include Aldona, Se Old Goa, Oxem, Navelim, Chicalim and Uguem and the municipalities that were identified include Panjim, Cuncolim and Valpoi. As per the directions of the court, these identified panchayats and municipalities must take all steps to implement the rules within a 6 month period after which all other Panchayats and Municipalities are to follow suit within a year.
