Manufacturers of any electronic product or battery must dispose of any e-waste generated in the process of manufacturing in the legally prescribe manner. Producers of electronics must make facilities available for consumers to properly dispose of “end of life” electrical products. They must furthermore affix a label to all products that would constitute hazardous e-waste on the product or user documentation that indicates that the item is not to be disposed of alongside normal waste. These guidelines provide an exhaustive overview of the various types of e-waste, and assigns proper disposal responsibilities to consumers, manufacturers, refurbishers, and local government bodies alike.
