Batteries (Management and Handling) Rules Act, 2001:

Batteries contain numerous chemicals which are harmful to humans and the environment if they are not properly disposed of. The central government has established legal guidelines for the collection, disposal, and recycling of used batteries. These rules apply to manufacturers, dealers, and recyclers, who are required to ensure that the public is aware of proper battery disposal.
