The Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB) has recently come up with a tagging system to ensure communities residing within biodiversity zones get Access Benefit Share from products whose ingredients are sourced from these zones. As per this system, such products will be tagged and the sellers are required to pay 0.01% of their annual profits to the GSBB which in turn will use these funds to protect and conserve the habitat from where these ingredients are extracted. The tag will denote the special status of these products as being more ethically sourced from nature. So far, three organisations have signed up for this scheme – Tanshikar Spice Farm, Raika Honey and Krishna Plantation.
